Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Convicted Felon with Narcotics & Handgun
Odessa Police arrested Jefferson Garrett, date of birth 10/05/1948, on 1-30-19 at approximately 1537 hours for Manufacture or Delivery of Cocaine “Felony 3”, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon “Felony 3”, Tampering with Physical Evidence “Felony 3”, and a Parole Violation Warrant for Murder “Felony 1”.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2009 Dodge Journey in the 900 block of North Lee. The front passenger, later identified as Garrett, immediately exited the vehicle. Garrett tore a bag containing a white powdery substance and began to spread dirt on it. Garrett was found to be in possession of approximately 18.1 grams of cocaine.
Garrett was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a handgun. Investigation revealed that Garrett was a convicted felon and that he had a parole violation warrant for murder. Garrett was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
