Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Robbery Investigation

Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to a robbery that occurred this morning in Southeast Odessa. Johnaron Orona, 22 years of age, was charged with Robbery “2nd Degree Felony” and Possession of Stolen Property “Class A Misdemeanor”.
On June 5, 2020 at approximately 0941 hours, Odessa Police responded to the area of 17th and Cumberland in reference to a disturbance. The 34-year-old complainant advised officers that that an unknown male subject approached her, demanded money, and threatened to kill her and her baby.
The complainant attempted to get away but the suspect, later identified as Orona, prevented her from leaving by using his vehicle to cut her off. The complainant advised that she changed directions and Orona then fled the scene southbound in a red vehicle.
Another OPD officer located a vehicle matching the suspect’s description, in the area of Oakwood and Wedgewood. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Orona. A show-up was conducted and Orona was identified as the same suspect who had committed the robbery.
Orona was also found to be in possession of stolen property. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Orona was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC. There were no reports of any injuries.
