Warrants are a result of an individual's failure to appear in person or in writing at the Odessa Municipal Court or failure to comply with a court order. Other types of citations that are handled through the Odessa Municipal Court, and that could be part of the warrant list, include:
- Code enforcement violations
- Failure to sterilize a pet adopted from the Odessa Animal Shelter
- Parking tickets
- Other violations of the Odessa Municipal code or state law
Warrants will remain in effect until payment is received and posted by the City of Odessa Municipal Court.

A person that intentionally or knowingly harms or threatens to harm a witness, prospective witness, informant, person that has reported a crime, or a person who intends to report an occurrence of a crime, can be charged with the 3rd degree felony crime of Obstruction / Retaliation (Texas Penal Code 36.06).
