Traffic Patch The Odessa Police Department Traffic Division is a specially-skilled unit whose primary function is traffic enforcement and the investigation of fatal or potentially fatal traffic collisions and hit and run accident investigations. All of the traffic officers receive training in collision investigation and specialized advanced training in collision reconstruction.

Special Events & Parades

The Traffic Division is a proactive unit in traffic enforcement and has the additional responsibility for coordinating special events such as:

  • Civic celebrations
  • Festivals
  • Fun runs
  • Large sporting events
  • Parades

The Traffic Division also oversees the Parking Control Enforcement personnel who are responsible for the parking enforcement in the downtown area of the City of Odessa. Parking Control Enforcement personnel conduct, organize, and collect the fees associated with the publicly held auctions for abandoned vehicles.
